This school seems to be geared towards AIMS testing and funding only. Bullying is not allowed yet occurs every day. Please let kids be kids and stop over tasking them with an accumulation of work sheets more geared towards the schools financial potential for rewards rather than a childs success!!!! This

I love Mr. Kieffer the principal and my daughters Kindergarten teacher was the best. The downfall is that the neighborhood has really changed. It seems like many of the families are not involved in their students lives. You will have to fight what I call the negative influence of some of the other students.

If you have a child with any sort of special need stay away from West Point and the Dysart school district as a whole. The teachers are good but bound by high student ratios (31 in my sons class) and district rules that seem to only factor in money. They do not seem to be the least bit concerned for
... Read more my son and continually push me off, we have had three IEP meetings thus far and the accomodations are ridiculously easy. Really, unless your child is the normal student who can basically teach him/herself I would keep him/her out of this school! Read less

West Point is the best school that I have ever been to. The teachers and adminstration all work together to meet my child's needs. The school has a reading interventionist for students who are struggling in reading as well as an Instructional Coach who helps teachers stay on target to make instruction

This School has some Outstanding teachers, but the Resource Programs and the way they are handled is a different matter. The whole Resource Team is like a revolving door at this school and makes it very difficult for communication and educational needs to be meet of the children.

The principal needs to take control and NOT let the office staff run the school. He is suppose to be there for a reason and the person in control...though that is not how the school is. He has no say in what is happening and going on in the school.

The school is full of great teachers and great students. The vast majority of the parents are great and are very supportive of the goals of the school. This is a good school that is becoming a great school.

Read more than that one but I have w/Dysart.If I didn't work I would transport my kids to the Peoria district.My sister-in-law lives in the Dysart district but her kids attend the Peoria district.I am however proud to say that I had the teachers and staff stop making the kids tuck in their shirts as of last year by going to the district.Their reasoning that they learn better w/their shirts tucked in was ridiculous. The quality of academics at this school are great. However very worksheet oriented. Music, art, sport programs are limited. They do have afterschool clubs that are worth looking into. ... Read more the PTA to fund more than they should. The bus routes for this school is horrendous. rarely on time. But if you go to the school...Better walk. Security is an issue. North Gate is a weak spot. Please note the Prinicipal's leadership is lacking severly. VP makes up for it in spades. Recess has been broken down to the kids roaming the play ground. Tag, and other organized sports is limited. A petition by students to allow soccer, football and tag is in the works. The kids are trying to reclaim recess! Hope this helps. Read less

Advanced Placement
