Great school. I have nothing but positive things to say about the teachers, curriculum and administration.

This is our 4th year at Pinnacle Peak. We have had 4 amazing years there. The teachers are top notch!!!! They are caring, approachable, and knowledgable about the new and innvoative ideas in education. The principal, Mr. Lee is amazing. The PTO works very hard to make it feel like a community. They

My child , now in 8th Grade, was a PPE student. All of his teachers have been great and very patient (except one). He learned a lot and using the AR program had always been accessible to him. We went thru two Principals but Mr Lee has been the best. The child has a medicated behavioral problem and we

Not enough emphasis coming from homes to include kids at birthday parties. The curriculum is wonderful, play area and setting are perfect but parents are clustered and there is a high amount of snobbism keeping children from being friendly to each other. Read less

I am extremely pleased with the school. The teachers, principal and most parents are wonderful! I highly recommend PPE.

I completely disagree with many of these previous posts. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience at PPES with the teachers and most especially with the Principal. It is a great sense of community at the school and my children have learned a lot over the years. My children have also used the Accelerated

As a former PPE parent, I agree with EVERYTHING in the last 3 reviews. My child was desperate to learn how to use the Acc. Reader program but no one would show her how, not even her teacher. I found that PPE is inadequate academically after 2nd grade. My kid's teachers did the bare minimim, anything

We saw trophies awarded for arbitrary good behavior more than academic success. My 5th grader wasn't taught cursive since it's the internet age, but he also wasn't taught keyboarding. In my opinion, PPE is a 3rd tier school: it's test scores reflect the student population (most parents are successful professionals), which is bright enough to excel despite the school, not because of it. We found great public schools in AZ once we left PPE. Read less

I am disappointed in PPES again this year for not encouraging their teachers to utilize the Accelerated Reading program which is available to them. I had to provide incentives at home for my child to read and take the quizzes last year and it seems I will have to do the same again this year since the

I find the program to be effective for reading comprehension and can be a great tool to receive points on the number of books read with a track record of the level your child is reading to. PPES is not a challenging school for students in 4th 6th grades. It was very easy for my children to get straight A s with very little effort. They rarely had homework and if they did, it could be done in minutes on the bus ride home from school. The curriculum in the higher grades was very shallow

The Core Knowledge program is great in the lower grades but does nothing to help students with more abstract concepts as they get into 5th & 6th. The teachers are frustrated with the state budget issues and this is evident in the classrooms. If you are looking for a strong academic education, you may want to consider a different program than PPES. Read less

We moved to Scottsdale and picked PPES based on test scores. What a mistake! The Core Knowledge program is overemphasized and the school has lost its focus on the basics. Further, PPES emphasizes standardized test preparation and pressures kids in this regard. There s limited classroom differentiation;

Fortunately, tests are ridiculously easy so getting high marks requires little effort. The school arbitrarily awards character trophies with no accountability (so classroom pets are ubiquitous). The flip side is the school s lack of an adequate discipline program; there are many, many bullies and disruptive kids in class, on the playground and lurking in the halls and bathrooms. Simply stated, PPES is not preparing my children for their future, and some of the lessons learned (like A s without mastery and that bullying is OK) are downright deleterious. Keep looking! PPE is a big school with no individual care for the children. Problems brought up are swept under the rug with a smile on the principles face. Teacher to student ratio is too high for a teacher to teach to anything but the lowest level child. Was very suprised that the higher level children are suppose

Our teacher was very kind to listen to our concerns, but she has so many to tend to that it was just not a priority to have our child's needs met. We have had to do a lot of extra at home just to keep her interested. Not sure why you send a child to school all day just to have to teach them more at home. Read less
