Although Salome H.S. had problems in the past, they have a completely new administration and have replaced the teachers who weren't doing their jobs. ALL the teachers are certified now. Teachers are accountable for standards, and those not meeting them are released. The school is not behind in entering
... Read more grades, which are entered within two days of the end of the grading period. Money management and audit problems were with the previous administration and have been corrected. The superintendent is working very hard to improve the school and demands excellence from his teachers. The biggest challenge the school faces is student and parent apathy. The school is changing for the better, and I'm glad to be a part of it. Read less

Quality of academic programs: Starts with administration which has had serious problems in establishing policy and standards for teachers to work to. High turnover and lack of consistant curiculim and poor leadership have made our experience at Salome (4children through the system) most negitive.

Read more Teachers have bad attitiudes (stems from administration) too many non certified teachers, resource officer regularly monopolizes many students time, keeping them from necessary class time. Student grades and statistics not entered in data base (years behind) making transfering students unable to enroll in new school for weeks. Inconsistent enforcement of curiculim standards and lack of accountability for teachers making the teachers who do care and who want to do the right thing frustrated and forces them to go elsewhere. History of audit problems and money management takes away the ability for programs and communication necessary for a successful educational program. This school needs help! Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School

Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
