I have two children that attended AAEC-SMCC campus. Our older daughter will Graduate ASU Barretts Honors College at age 20 with a 4.0 on full scholership. She intends to apply for law school in October. Our younger daughter is a Junior at AAEC maintaining a 3.8 GPA. She will graduate high school with
... Read more 60+ college credits. Both of my daughters benefited so much by having the college experience being so much a part of their high school experience. The staff gave them the confidence to steer through the scholership application process and a real leg up on how to choose the best coarse curriculum to achieve their college goals. I've had 2 graduates from AAEC, 1 who will be a Senior and another a Freshman (Fall 2007). I home school and wanted a way for my children to transition into public education and prepare to continue their education at the University level. AAEC's committed staff and their academic programs have helped

Comments from my children by SMCC staff suggest that the High School students were better students than the general students in their classrooms. As a person with a Master's Degree in Education, a current teaching certificate and experience teaching in public schools, I believe that students rise to meet the expectations of their principal and staff which I feel attributes to AAEC's success. The fitness center, student government, horse riding classes, FFA, yearbook, science lab and honors programs help too. Read less

My child has finished her freshman year at AAEC-SM. The campus is new and while there are bugs to be worked out, it has been a good first year. The opportunity for students to earn a college degree while still in high school is an awesome advantage. The academic programs can be tailored to the student.

Read more The school does not have music, art, and sports programs like that of other public high schools, however there are other extra-curricular activities for the students, as well as opportunties to participate in these areas in through Parks and Recreation and the college. Parental involvement has been lacking, however, we are working hard to turn that around and hope to have an activity Parent Teacher Organization during the 2007/2008 school year. I would recommend this school to any parent looking to enhance their child's academic career. Read less

This is a great school, offers an opportunity for students to take college classes. They get full college credit and high school credit for classes. The falculty is top notch. I have 2 children in this school not yet graduated, and one of them has accumulated 40 college credits. Sports is not offered

My child has been at AAEC for two years now. While at AAEC, she has developed a new interest in math and science at which she is excelling. I find the staff to taylor the ciriculum for the students. I would definitly recommend this school for any child that wants to get a head start in academics.

I think that when it comes down to it, AAEC is a great school but I think the teachers overload the students. I understand that AAEC is a College Prepatory School but with the college class work and highschool work, it is a big overload. My kid comes home stressed because there's too much work assigned

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School

A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
