Well, I'd like to start on a positive note, this school offers a good curriculum, but the philosophy of extended day and extended year is not delivering the end results it should be. I found that my children were exhausted and burnt out by the time breaks came and were not really any further along academically

The school has some good teachers, but also is staffed with inexperienced teachers lacking classroom management skills and good communication skills when it comes to working with parents. The biggest problem I witnessed is the lack of leadership shown by the CAO. Discipline is a major problem! No consistency throughout the school as a whole. Overall, a very disappointing reality after the fairytale presentation. Unsatisfied Parent Read less

Our children started this school year 08-09, and have learned so much. We are also greatful for the busing opportunites they provide, becuase the local schools were not great. This school is great! If you are looking for a school that will hold your child accountable for everything from homework, in-class assignments and behavior, this is the place. My son was totally overlooked, bored and always in trouble in a public school, now he comes home telling me all about everything.

In the local public school in the area that our children attended before, their time was wasted. At Ahwatukee they are taught to think, and how to learn, not just rote learning. I chose this school over the Kyrene schools because of the uniforms. My older daughter went to a school with uniforms in another area, and we just found it to produce a FAR better results when compared to schools without uniforms. There is less social strata, less competition for monetary things like

We also found there to be less bullying, less talking down to/making fun of other students, and more of a spirit of cooperation than you would find in a non-uniform public school. ** It's also cheaper! My kids don't feel pressured to dress a certain way, and that means a lot less stress for me, both in the mornings and at the mall. Why the public schools don't use uniforms, I will never know! My children have attended AFP for 1 year and I am very pleased with what my children have learned.
