My children both attended this school for several years. In the beginning it was great. I loved the Idea of the ungraded system and there Kindergarten teacher was Awsome. But in 2006-2007 school year the Director and several teachers left the school. When my children returned to school it was a complete

I agree with a previous post about the Children and there self esteem as well as the lack of control at this school. Once I moved my children out of this school it became very apparent that they were behind and I had to put them in special programs to get them caught up. It took an entire year to get them there and one of my children still needs a special reading program. Im just happy I got them out Read less

My child attended Peoria Horizons Charter School for 2 years. The teachers were always welcoming, helpful, and attentive. My daughter loved it. I did not particularly like the surroundings as they operate at the Peoria Boys & Girls Club. The class sizes were smaller than the public schools which

My daughter always complained about the heat during the summer and the cold during the winter, while having to eat her lunch outside. I eventually moved my daughter to the public school by my home because I thought there were too many other children with discipline problems there and it made my daughter uncomfortable. This is an excellent school for your child if they are not a 'traditional learner', need smaller classes, or if your child has trouble focusing on class. The teachers were all wonderful, parent participation and fun extra activities were excellent, and my daughter received lots of individual attention. My daughter learned a lot. They are quite small and need a library and a cafeteria. They have a large gym for P.E. which was nice and after school care by the Boys and Girls Club was offered for those who needed it. The kindergarten classes are an all-day program which is perfect for a parent desiring more time in school for their child. They use an 'ungraded' system where the child is not 'graded' and therefore does not have his confidence knocked down when they did not due well, but then they will help the child to perform at a higher level and learn all the material.
