I have two children enrolled at Ishikawa and found their first year at the school to be a great one. The kindergarten and first grade teachers were friendly, patient and solid at teaching the foundation. I appreciate the teaching techniques, especially the time spent on phonics, concept, problem solving

My older son graduated from Ishikawa with a 4.0. He loved the teachers and even the homework was no problem. Now my 10 year old son goes there, it he is quite different from his brother. He has A.D.H.D. and sees a specialist for it. The teachers have been extremely supportive of him and have worked with

... Read more in the fifth grade. We have always been amazed with the staff, not to mention the principal. The principal makes her rounds often, she is out and about and is definitely seen about the campus. I even saw her out at the cross walks this morning meeting and greeting the children. We are very impressed with the teaching staff's length of stay at Ishikawa, there is no turn around to speak of. Their hears are definitely into teaching. They do take the time out for some one-on-one, patience and make their expectations known up front. Read less

My son began attending Ishikawa as a kindergartener in 04-05, and we have been very pleased with the school. I was very impressed by the fact that in our area almost all of the children in the surrounding neighborhoods attend Ishikawa. In other areas in Mesa, that is not the case for the neighborhood
... Read more public school. Just the fact that so many families are pleased with this school impressed me. In our two years here I have not heard one bad thing spoken about the school. I have truly appreciated the fact that the teachers I have been involved with demonstrate that they have a personal interest that each of their students perform well. My son is ADHD. The principal and his teachers have been very helpful in dealing with his needs. We get great feedback and are alerted if there is any learning risks that the teacher may notice. Ishikawa encourages parent involvement in the classrooms. I volunteered several times last year. My son's teacher was great; she saw that my son needed some focus on his social skills and worked with him to develop them. By the end of his pre-K year, my son was very well-adapted socially. Advanced Placement
