The Mountain Pine School district is probably the best kept secret in Garland County! The school is small enough that each student receives the personal attention they need, yet big enough to excel in any subject they choose. I am teacher at Mountain Pine High School. This is my 13th year teaching and I have taught at large, middle and small schools. I am excited to say that in the three years I have been teaching here, I have seen a steady improvement in the student body and in the caliber of education they are receiving.

In addition I have noticed the students taking pride in the fact that they are soon to be honor graduates or completers in an elected field. Further, we have coaches who love their athletes and are always seeking ways to improve them and challenge them to be better on the field and in the classroom. With the realistic student/teacher ratio., I have the opportunity to learn about each of my students where they excel and where they need attention. I can focus on the individual the needs. This is not possible in larger school, where the focus is on numbers per class and students per room. We currently have Advance Placement in eight subject areas and Workforce Ed. in six. Mountain Pine High School is a AA school. It holds about 750 students currently and holds 60 staff members including adminstration. I think Mountain Pine is a wonderful school, because it is not to big and the student teacher ratio is excellent. There are many qualified teachers at this school and
... Read more great classes. For example everything from basic math all the way to College Algebra. This school year 2003-2004 we have only seen two fights out of the entire school year. We have great discipline, but we never have to use it, because the school is so well organized and run with superior adminstration and staff. I think out of all the schools in Garland County this one is the best choice that anyone could make. We hope to see you soon. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Before/After School
