... Read more than the average student. We do not give special treatment to our student athletes. They are required to go to study halls and tutoring, they are punished for not doing school work. They are expected to perform in the classroom. Education comes first. Money spent on the football program is raised through gate reciepts and donations, some money comes from the activity fund. The Band makes their money at football games through concessions, cheerleaders, prancers, and other clubs and organizations make their money through various fundraisers associated with football games. My family has found the Booneville School System and the community of Booneville to be a wonderful place to raise children. With one daughter now in Pre-Vet, we are comfortable with the academic education she received here. Another daughter has lettered athletically and will probably go to college
... Read more on a softball scholarship while our third daughter, who is more artistically inclined, is making wonderful strides in her art education in school. Booneville is a very safe town (we once accidentally left the front door AJAR when we went away on the weekend only to come home and find that absolutely nothing was wrong, only a few leaves had blown in). The community has an excellent hospital and healthcare system, good local services and is close enough but still far enough from an urban center (Fort Smith) to be comfortable. I dont think its the school system at all. I was raised in the system and personally think it has a lot to do with, the lack of parenting that not only the town but also the nation has.

Compared to many schools around, Booneville High is better than a lot. They do not offer as many challenging classes (advanced) as Fort Smith Schools, but are improving by offering basic courses through the University and AP classes. The school does put more effort into the football program than education.
... Read more It is great to have a promising football team every year, but education is more important than even the 'qualities' some students gain from the team sport. Overall, Booneville is a good town to raise a child, as long as the parent is involved. Read less

The school is ok, I just don't not appreciate the principal's and some of the teachers that are there. My child is not challenged enough I think. I think that they let too many students especially football players pass without reason.

Advanced Placement
