100% of graduates attend college. The curriculum is moderately challenging academically. More student recognition and resources are focused on athletics as compared to academic contests and the arts. Parents extremely involved. Students want to do well. A well disciplined student body. Lacks diversity

Excellent administration. I feel comfortable calling for any reason as small as a what time is show-and-tell in my son's class. I'm always treated with personal attention. Also, the students are so polite. Once my 2 year old was playing around older children and was accidentally knocked to the ground.

This is our 4th year and we love it! It's nice going to one school K4-12th. The kids get a well-rounded, balanced education and the staff communicates well, something the public school lacked for us. We transferred from public and everyone was very welcoming. They have convenient after school activities

Incredible school with a wide variety of extracurricular activities and professional staff. State champions in football (among other sports) while also fielding a Physics Team at the Alabama High School Physics contest that is competitive even among large public schools and state wide magnet schools

The students are very competitive, talented and have parents with resources. My child could have done much better getting grades at another school but no place could prepare for the future as well. If you child has talent and 'edge' then this school is a perfect fit. If you want your child exposed to a wide variety of competitors at the top in a variety of fields then this school is what you want for you child! Read less

I have been going to UMS-Wright Prepatory school my whole life. I could not ask for a better education. Their preperation is great. Their athletic programs are very good. The students have the best attitudes in the world. They have a great football team! UMS is the best school ever.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.
Gifted and Talented
A school system may identify 10% to 15% or more of its student population as gifted and talented. A brief description of each area of giftedness or talent as defined by the Office of Gifted and Talented:
general intellectual ability or talent - high intelligence test score (usually two standard deviations above the mean), and high levels of vocabulary, memory, abstract work knowledge and abstract reasoning;
specific academic aptitude or talent in one area such as mathematics or language arts;
creative and productive thinking, the ability to produce new ideas;
leadership ability, the ability to direct individuals or groups to a common decision or action;
visual and performing arts, special talents in visual art, music, dance, drama, or other related studies;
psychomotor ability, such as practical, spatial, mechanical, and physical skills.
Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
