We moved to Alabama from another state. The reputation of Helena is why we came to this town! The county was rated high as were the schools! I heard all great things from the school and read some nice reviews. Nothing is the same! I had very high expectations for this school and staff to meet, and

What kind of school system does not encourage that? My child is very discouraged about school because many policies are much different than what he is used to. He has begged me to let him stay home because of teachers attitude towards 'punishment'. I am very unhappy with the decision I made and the situation that I have placed my child in. Read less

After having 2 children attending HES at the same time (they are 2 years apart), I feel somewhat qualified to offer my opinion of the school/teachers. I must say, when we first moved to Helena I was a bit apprehensive about the quality of education my children might receive (we moved from Homewood).
... Read more I am happy to say now that both of my kids have moved on from HES to HIS, and I have NO complaints! The teachers my kids had at HES were wonderful, caring, and professional. One of my children has some learning disabilities, and the teachers were WONDERFUL at helping her succeed! I feel that there is no other school that could have done any better than HES to prepare my children academically and socially. I must admit, I am a little sad that my youngest has 'graduated' to HIS as I will miss all the HES folks! Read less

Our experience with this school was average at best. Brining our son into first grade from pre-K and K @ a private school, we were disappointed with the lack of challenge by the teachers and lack of understanding by the principal. I've had 2 children now in HES and we've never had anything but good experiences. The teachers are fantastic and seem to really challenge the kids.
