We just moved here from FL and we don't like the principal already!! She is very snotty and rude. I hope she is transfered to another school soon or we will move!! The rest of the staff is so nice. What a shame that people have to deal with her. It is a clean school and the teachers are ok so far

... Read more lighting, landscaping, water faucets, windows, etc. We found them all to be clean, painted, and in good working condition. This sent a positive message. The classrooms are cheerful. The parents are proactive and voluneteering. Our first grade and fourth grade daughters' teachers keep in regular contact with us via email to inform us of homework problems and even a dress code issue. The other students appear engaged, well dressed, and well prepared. The school provides the parents with numerous opportunities to volunteer for activities ranging from landscaping to computer clubs. We moved to Huntsville from Michigan in 2006 and had twins entering K, and we are so pleased with this school. The teachers are amazing, there is excellent community involvement, and our children are flourishing. The 1st grade readers program is outstanding, and our kids were battling each other and

My son attended HCE for about 6 months before we moved about 30 miles away. It was such a mistake to leave. We loved the principal, his teacher, supports staff, EVERYTHING! It was such a warm, friendly and loving environment, a place kids and parents could look forward to going to. The school we
... Read more are at now is like a boot camp and you would never know by walking through it that children were even in the building. I always felt welcome at HCE and felt like my son was in good hands with people who truly cared about him - not the case any more. I love HCE! Read less

I have taught at HCES since it opened 11 years ago. It is a great school with teachers, parents, administrators and students that work together. Our PTA is outstanding! I wish every child could go to a school like ours!

Excellent school with a principal and staff that is learning focused. Focus on reading and math is from Kindergarten. The 1st grade Parade of Readers program encourages children to read even those who have shown little interest. The teachers are constantly keeping up to date with current teaching methods.

We enrolled in HCES mid term in 2004. Not only was my son's teacher outstanding academically, but socially she helped him to 'adjust' as the new kid. The prinicipal actually speaks to parents (not always the case in some schools) and is concerned about what happens on her campus and with her kids.

Advanced Placement

Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
