Used to be a student here and it was genuinely the worst 3 years I’ve ever spent in a school. A lot of the staff were very rude, it seems like a lot of them just hated the students at this school. I remember so much verbal abuse being used when I went here, it was just constantly everywhere. The school isn’t safe to be around either, there’s been multiple bomb threats made by the students here so you can basically imagine how scary it was to even step foot in there. If you send your child here, I guarantee you their mental health will rapidly deteriorate, just find some other middle school, please.

I am a former student from Sunlake High School, an early graduate. However, this school has one of these lowest standards that a school can have. These standards are reflected by their choice of staff and the treatment that students get upon attending this school. I graduated early thanks to teachers that cared deeply, but were severely under appreciated. Some of the best teachers I have had in my academic career have left due to the mistreatment of the school and the poor procedures that are practiced here. As a former student, your child will be treated as a number and statistic, not as a real person. Throughout my time at Sunlake, I was not once heard as a student. If the school were to treat anyone with respect, it would be the parents simply because they care more about their image as a school and because they want to avoid any real trouble. I recently tried going to the school with genuine questions, and I was met with the rudest staff women (they work in the front office, any and all students and parents can see who those two women are) I have interacted with at the school, and the corporal is extremely rude as well. All of the above mentioned staff members behaved as if going with questions and concerns was a genuine burden to them, and they did not care about communicating with former students but rather getting us out as fast as possible while making sure we felt belittled. I am also extremely disappointed that we were originally told that we would be speaking to the principal, who we have known since beginning at the school, and she could not even make time to meet with us. Considering that they work in a place where teenagers attend to grow and learn, they genuinely behave as if they dislike presence of children. Again, this isn’t all of the staff members. Those test scores, grades, and attendance rates are thanks to teachers who still care about education. However, they never stay long enough because of how poorly Sunlake treats everyone. The principal, main staff members, and corporal will treat your child as if they’re an inconvenience. I am deeply disappointed that even as a graduate, I was still met with the same disrespect that made high school less of a great experience. If you’re a parent, communicate with the school yourselves as I ensure they will ignore your child. Hopefully Sunlake improves this, but any past student will tell you similar experiences. This is a pattern that they will proceed to operate with.

Last year this school was amazing, they had a wonderful principal who really kept the school intact and focused on the kids. When she left this school turned chaotic. The students pretty much do whatever they want, are rarely supervised during recess, bullying is more than last year for sure, when trying to meet with the new principal you are told she always in a meeting. She seems nice but has no control over the kids or the school. A principal really makes a school and I have seen that ten fold this year. If I could take my daughter out this year I would. My daughter told me this week she can’t wait to start a new school next year.
