Raleigh, NC Homes for Sale is My Business
Welcome to my Profile Page! My name is Wayne Hankins and I am a Broker, Productivity Coach and Operating Partner with Keller Williams Realty in Chapel Hill, NC. Let me take a moment to tell you about me, my experiences, hobbies and my professional mission statement.
I'm a 49 year-old Florida native. I attended Wildwood High School in Wildwood, FL where I was the Captain of the Basketball Team and a member of the Golf Team. Wildwood was a bit of a shock growing up. My Dad’s job with Seaboard Coast Line Railroad moved us during my sophomore year from Miami, FL where I would have graduated with 1300+ students to Wildwood where I graduated with 102 classmates. Truth be told…I loved the slower pace of this small railroad, farming community. I still have memories of working in the watermelon fields during my summers when I wasn’t fishing on one of the many local lakes and farm ponds.
After graduating from Wildwood High, I attended the University of South Florida, where I met my future wife, Shelia (Meyer) Hankins for a short time before transferring to Florida Community College in Jacksonville, FL. It wasn’t long before I figured out I wasn’t ready for college…too many places to see, too little time to see them. So…I enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in April of 1978 and an awesome journey.
Over the next 20 years, 4 months and 6 days in the U.S. Coast Guard…by the way we’re called “Coasties”, I had the pleasure of serving in great places like Cape May NJ, Galveston TX, Governors Island NY, Iwo Jima Japan, Malone FL, Honolulu HI, Marietta GA, Alexandria VA, Washington DC and Charleston SC. My specialty was Electronics and by the time I retired I attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. One of my best tours while working in VA allowed me to travel to Japan, Australia, Argentina, La Reunion, Liberia, Norway and of course North Dakota and Hawaii again. Who says the Coast Guard is only along our coast! By the way…I did get a Bachelors in Social Psychology from Park University in Parkville, MO.
I’ve had a passion for real estate ever since I was old enough to get a license, which in most states is 18. If there was a real estate investment book, I probably read it! My favorites today are The Millionaire Real Estate Investor and FLIP: How to Find, Fix and Sell Houses for a Profit…both by Gary Keller, our co-founder at Keller Williams Realty.
As you might have guessed, I’ve moved around a lot…20 times in 49 years to be exact. I have to admit that’s part of what makes me the Broker I am with Keller Williams Realty in Chapel Hill North Carolina (home of the 2009 NCAA Division I Basketball Champion UNC Tarheels). I’ve move in every capacity of life….as a child, teenager and adult, alone and as a newlyweds, with infants, teenagers, girl teenagers leaving boyfriends behind and high school graduates, with dogs, cats, gerbils and fish, from state to state, coast to coast and into and out of the U.S. Mainland. We’ve bought in seller’s markets and sold in buyer’s markets, we’ve held onto homes as rentals when they weren’t worth what we owed for them….you don’t build up much equity when you’re stationed somewhere for only two (2) years. So, you might say I have a REAL PERSPECTIVE about what buying and selling entails and what you’re are, or will be going through.
My mission statement is simple, to become the REALTOR of choice in North Carolina for clients who values honesty, commitment and world class service. So what qualifies me to write this blog?
