Hi Cara,
Association dues vary greatly depending mostly on what services are provided by the condo association , where it is and whether they have had special assessments which are being paid out over time.
You can generally expect higher fees in full service buldings with lots of amenities like swimming pools, gyms, club houses, libraries, theaters, etc. And if a high rise building, the elevators. All of these thingsmust be maintaind in safe working condition which costs money. Also, if the condo is near the beach, you can expect higher fees due to increased maintenance from the salt air etc. So you see, a lot of factors go in to determining what the condo fees are. If it is east, the insurance for wind and flood coverage on the common spaces will most likely be higher then if the building is well inland. This also adds to the monthly fees.
As for your electricity, that totally depends on your usage. So it should not be much more then you use now, depending on where you live, for a similar sized space. Cooking, use of TV's and computers and other appliances and your air conditioning will all directly effect your electricity cost.
If you need help figuring this out and seeing actual condos to assess what the costs might be, give me a call at 561-665-0900 and I would behappy to work with you.
