When I think high end, I think top quality properties. While in some areas like the Chain of Lakes, the beginning for upper priced homes might start around $700,000-800,000, that doesn't mean they are "high end" homes. Many at this start point are average homes that just happen to benefit from a very desirable area. If you want to get top quality and luxury, then you have to start around $1.3 Million for the Chain of Lakes.
As for condos in Minneapolis, the high end luxury market starts at $2 Million. Everything below that are either converted mansions/historic homes and expensive condos without the flair. They cost a bit of money, but are no where "high end". Pretty much, the only two areas for high priced homes in Minneapolis are the Chain of Lakes and Downtown.
