I agree with Tracey and your Agent. You are at the Lenders mercy. Some are better than others, but I have had clients wait 6 months or more. 6 weeks would really be a push. I would have your Agent start looking at other homes for you that can close within your timeframe.
If you decide to go the short sale route, I would make sure my Agent was experienced with these. Even an innocent mistake can cost you the sale.
