Terry first entered the real estate business in 1976 as a means to augment his highly successful general contracting firm in the greater Allentown and Philadelphia markets. After surviving the recession of the early eighties, Terry sold his operations and subsequently joined John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he quickly became recognized as an industry leader. A member of the Pennsylvania Leaders Roundtable, The Million Dollar Roundtable, and ranked among the top twenty agents within his company, he became a familiar face on the cover of John Hancock’s monthly Patriot magazine, and traveled the country assisting other agencies with his product knowledge.
In 1985, Terry relocated to Brandon, Florida, where he decided to branch out on his own and formed Morehouse Financial Services — a Financial / Estate Planning, Multi-line Insurance, Investment, and Tax Accounting firm. As President and CEO, he was licensed with the NASD and as Registered Investment Advisor, in addition to holding Life and Health Insurance licenses in five states. As a member of the Tampa Life Underwriters Association, Terry attained his LUTCF accreditation and subsequently went on to teach Insurance and Financial Planning courses for several years.
Highly recognized by his peers as a community leader, Terry was a finalist for the coveted Small Business Leader of The Year Award in 1990 and in 1994. His superior list of accomplishments included serving on The Children’s Board, The Hillsborough County Housing Finance Authority, and The University of Tampa Board of Governors. He chartered the Brandon / East Hillsborough Chapter of the American Heart Association and served as President for two years. While serving as Vice President of Bloomingdale Little League, he single-handedly fought and won a battle with the County Commission to save the league from condemnation, resulting in it becoming one of the largest and highest rated facilities in the State.
Terry was extremely active in local politics, and made two close bids for the School Board and the County Commission. In 1996, because of his invaluable insight to education, he was appointed to the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Hillsborough County School Board. As Chairman from 1998 to 2000, he pushed for historic resolutions that helped shape the School System to what it is today. His unselfish and relentless efforts were finally recognized in 2000 when he received the School Board’s highly coveted EDDIE Award for his many accomplishments, which included his involvement with the elimination of school busing for Unitary Status.
A prior commentator for the Brandon Valrico Journal, Terry also served as a routine guest on Channel 44 Bayside, along with Barbara Callahan and Patrick Emery. While the list of accomplishments can roll on and on, one of his most prized tributes was being named Brandon’s Father of The Year.
In 1998, he sold Morehouse Financial Services and re-entered the real estate profession full time for Realty Executives and relocated to Pinellas County, where he held the position of Broker Vice President, and was consistently in the top tier of Agents before again branching out on his own.
Today, Terry Morehouse & Associates Realty is known for their unsurpassed experience and service to their clients. Likewise, Terry continues to maintain a very prominent position of exposure through many involvements in community activity, some of which have included, the St. Petersburg B.P.O.E. (Elks Lodge #1224), the Anna Maria Island Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2188, Madeira Beach American Legion Post 273, Kiwanis, Rotary, Seminole Chamber of Commerce, and the Madeira Beach Community — John LeVique Pirates Days, and Seafood Festivals.
It’s easy to see why after more than 25 years in the Greater Tampa Bay, along with his combined financial planning and real estate experience, Terry approaches all of his business, whether Residential or Commercial, buying or selling, with a unique perspective and an unsurpassed level of professionalism.
