'while you can proceed without a real estate professional, there's no good reason not to. If you have not already spoken to the seller's agent, contact a few local buyer representatives and choose the one you like most. Good resources to use are the Real Estate Buyers Agent Council (REBAC) at http://www.rebac.net and the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) at http://www.crs.com. Look for agents that hold both certifications (ABR and CRS) and you will find the most experienced help there is!
