Shawn Norris is one of the few Emerald Coast residents that can call himself a true local.

Shawn was born on August 7, 1978 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. His parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles are all also living in the surrounding areas from Navarre to Santa Rosa Beach. He attended local area public schools Kenwood Elementary, Elliott Point Elementary, Meigs Middle, and Choctawhatchee High School where he graduated in 1997. He attended Okaloosa Walton Community College and then transferred to Florida State University.

Growing up on the water, Shawn's interest in boating and water sports would ultimately lure him from the Emerald Coast. He began his licensing quest at the age of 18, and obtained his 100 Ton Master Captain's license at the age of 20, working on many different yachts from New Orleans to the Caribbean. His love of the water also took him to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida to work with Sammy Duval, World Champion Water Skier. Shawn assisted in the opening of Sammy Duval's Water Sports Centre, where he was the parasail captain and a manager of the water sports centre.

Shawn returned to the Emerald Coast in March 2002 for the birth of his daughter, Haven Leslie Norris. At this time, he hung up his captain's hat and picked up his briefcase. He began working with Liberty National Insurance, where he sold annuities, life insurance, and supplemental health policies. With his primary contacts coming from inquiries, Shawn spent much of his time traveling the local highways, which transitioned him from life insurance to title insurance.

In 2004, Shawn began working with a local title company, where he was quickly immersed in the real estate closing business. Shawn had the rare opportunity to be a traveling closer which enabled him to close transactions from Panama City Beach to Pensacola. This is where Shawn realized he was sitting on the wrong side of the table.

Today Shawn’s become one of the best Realtors on the Emerald Coast and works hard at making everyone happy. He’s a Graduate of Realtor Institute and is a multi million-dollar producer. He married Dawn E. Larsh in June, 2006. Dawn is a local Real Estate Development Attorney with Mattews & Hawkins. Hello Laurent,

Im Shawn Norris, realtor with Re/max Southern Realty in Destin. To answer your question I will have to say that knowledge is power in any industry and especially in today's real estate market. I don't want to speak for everyone, but if you ask any realtor they will tell you that you only need to work with one agent and to work with them and that is true. You really should only work with one agent, but before you work with just one do a little investigating on them see what they are about, there history, and experience. Most agents should have a personel website and in there website they should have a bio or about me page giving anyone shopping for a realtor a good idea about there experience. Lots of times the agent may be very experienced but there personality clashes with yours and you may not work together well, so after reading up on there Bio I would also speak to them over the phone or in person to see if you personaly like the agent and that he/she would best fit your needs and wants.
