Real Estate Investment / Cross Country Consultant

January 2007 - present
So, what have I been doing all these years? My focus from 1997 to about 2003 was purchasing distressed properties, renovating them and reselling for a profit. Some of these properties were sold through a 1031 Tax Exchange, and the equity used to purchase 7 to 8 unit apartment buildings throughout San Diego County. I managed a total of 18 units as long term rentals for several years.
I sold these apartment buildings, near the last market peak, and completed several more 1031 exchanges into dozens of single family homes in the Phoenix, Jacksonville, and Dallas areas. I was hired by a group of mostly San Diego based real estate investors to act on their behalf as a consultant, where I assisted them in their search for investment properties across the country. I then found them financing, insurance and property management. I still own several of these single family investment properties and a TIC commercial building in Arlington, Texas.
My focus for the last 4 years has been the luxury vacation rental business. My husband, Amos and I owned and managed 4 vacation rental properties on Maui, and currently own a luxury charter yacht (which we run as both a six pack charter and a vacation rental) here on the San Diego Bay. Additionally, I have had a mortgage lender, Brad Shoemaker of Express Funding Mortgage Company working under my broker license for approximately 13 years.
Yes, I’ve been around the block, and now I’m back! I would greatly appreciate any business referrals sent my way. I would be more than happy to go into further detail with you on how I work and talk to you about current market conditions. This is a fascinating, and frankly the most unique market that I have witnessed since joining the real estate world the week before the stock market crashed in 1987. Oy!
Timing is everything!
