The advantages to a new home or subdivision are, it's a new home with a warranty. The disadvantages are you have to compete with builder pricing when you sell your home (if they are still building in the neighborhood). Most of the neighborhoods that you mention are in close proximity and will be competing with each other for buyers so should have similar appreciation rates. I often see people paying too much for new homes, when there are lots of motivated sellers avaialbe for well-cared for resale homes. Most real estate purchases are good investments if you hold onto them long enough, so any neighborhood in that part of Round Rock should do well over time whether you buy new or resale.
