The Willhoit family has been active in community service and businesses in Northern San Luis Obispo County since 1916. As a family owned and operated company Estrella Associates Inc. is a multi-dimensional company based in the Paso Robles Wine Country for over 25 years. Since our founding in 1984, Estrella Associates has developed land, built homes and commercial projects with a focus on environmentally friendly practices and lifestyle experiences. We strive to provide products and experiences that are embraced by the community and affordable to our customers.
Estrella is lead by President and CEO, Richard (Dick) Willhoit. Dick has an extensive knowledge of and background in land acquisition, entitlement procurement, land development, management of residential properties and management of homeowner associations. His vision and leadership directs the Estrella team to aspire to excellence in quality, customer satisfaction, industry leadership and profitability.
Dick has been involved with the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast for the past 20 years. He is a past president and a Life Director of the organization, and believes in strengthening the local building economy through business affiliations with other members. Dick is also a Life Director of the California Building Industry Association and is currently Past Chair for the California Homebuilding Foundation, the research, education and scholarship arm of the building industry in California; he serves as a Commissioner on the Housing Authority of Paso Robles in the current capacity of Chairman (PRHA); is a Board member and in his third term as Treasurer of the San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund (SLOCo HTF); and is a member of the Board of Directors and current 2012 Chairman for the Central Coast Economic Forecast. Dick is very active in local education and was a long-time School Board member of the Pleasant Valley, Paso Robles High School and Paso Robles Joint Union School Districts. He was the Board President in 1997, the year following the merger of the Paso Robles elementary and high school districts, and currently serves on the District’s Career Technical Education Advisory Committee and the Applied Technology Academy Advisory Committee.
While Estrella Associates, Inc. is a for-profit development and building entity Dick has been able to share his expertise with Countywide and local Non-Profit housing providers to better facilitate the fabric of the community. This has been done by assisting in achieving the goals of the SLOCo Housing Trust Fund through his continued position as Treasurer of the organization.
