Born into an English-speaking family, I learned Spanish as a child and pursued studies in Spanish in high school and college, lived in Mexico. I taught Spanish at the university level as well as junior college, high school, junior high school and elementary levels. I love learning. I have pursued studies in gemology (colored gemstones and diamonds), studied medicine for three years, studied linguistics, traveled extensively in Mexico, Europe and Asia. For 20 years I owned and operated America’s most prestigious diamond cutting firm (EightStar Diamond Company).
I have been active in real estate in California and Oregon for over 30 years. After receiving my real estate license, I chose Coldwell Banker to associate with in my most important career choice to date due to their sound institutional position in the business of real estate.
During my tenure with Coldwell Banker, I have sold hundreds of properties, a large percentage of which were for banks that foreclosed. As a result, I have become a specialist in bank-owned properties. This is important to you whether you are buying a home or selling yours because the rigorous work of selling foreclosed properties for large institutions, such as Chase Bank and ING Direct, adds a breadth and depth to one's real estate experience that is simply unobtainable through a less complex role in this business. To stay in the good graces of the institutional sellers, one must master many skills that, in the end, are vital to a professional approach to real estate, such as: the ability to determine the REAL selling value of a property, the coordination of activities that require connections in all related trades (pest inspectors, home inspectors, contractors of all kinds, well and septic specialists, and so on). One learns how to pace and drive a sale and coordinate all the activities of marketing, escrow, title, legal matters through legal professionals, accountancy matters through appropriate professionals, and all the other things that have to be done right and at the right time to consummate a sale or purchase of a property.
I have gotten quite good at this and have been "Agent of the Month" in my office dozens of times. You can count on me to know what needs to be known and know who needs to be known to help you buy or sell real estate.
