My career in real estate began in Blairsville, Georgia somewhat unexpectedly. After spending more than 20 years in the real estate valuation market and having owned my own business for a number of years, I thought the time had come to take life a little easier. My wife and I sold the business in Florida and moved to Blairsville, in the North Georgia mountains, to relax and enjoy ourselves.
But within a few years, I found myself looking for another challenge. Coincidentally, my daughter, Liz, who lives in Washington state, had just gotten her real estate license and suggested I do so as well. And so, with the thought that my previous experience in real estate valuation could only help, I became a licensed Realtor. Several years later I took advantage of my
years of owning a business and opened my own agency, Mike Kelly Realty. We specialize in commercial properties, acreage and luxury homes in Union and Towns Counties, mainly in Blairsville, Young Harris and Hiawassee.
As have so many people who work in the real estate industry, we have experienced some hard times in the past three years. However, optimist that I am, and having faith in my ability to "make lemonade when life hands me a lemon", we have suceeded in spite of the slow market.
As she did in Florida, my wife, Ruth has worked in the company from the beginning. Although we certainly don't have the leisure time we were anticipating, we still have plenty of opportunity to enjoy Georgia's beautiful lakes, waterfalls, streams and mountains. Life is good!
