Realtor did not honor our verbal agreement

Scott Newman answered:
You need to call the broker and explain what happened. The bottom line is that no broker wants to have his name dragged through the mud because of what some stupid agent did so it's likely that they will be wiling to work something out with you.

On a side note, It think this situation brings up an interesting point. Consumers should pick a Realtor based on their skills, experience, results, and all the other deciding factors you'd consider when looking for a dcotor, attorney, CPA, or any other professional.

If you find someone who's sole reason for earning your business is that they're willing to kick you back money that should be a red flag.

I am not going to say I haven't agreed to discount my commission in certain situations but that is something I always disclose in writing on the HUD and to my client before any work on their behalf begins.

A lot of sellers and buyers feel like they are owed something back from their agent and if that's the case then it means that your agent didn't do a god job. There are many tremendously talented Realtors out there who are worth every penny they earn and more! - Mon Dec 7 2009, 10:45
