Most builders do not negotiate on base prices, lot premium (if any) and elevations. But it's possible to negotiate on options/ upgrades. Working with some builders make it easy for me because they know and give me the bottom line numbers.
In the end, it's a matter of the bottom line price. A builder can give you a $50K incentive towards upgrades only to take that back just as quickly or another that could perhaps only give you a $10K incentive.
I would say if I was a buyer, I'd look at the final cost including all upgrades/ options I want to add to the house. Then decide if that's a good deal for you. - Sat Aug 6, 2011
