As you can see by the many answers, you can and should fire this agent and move to another. I would interview several agents before you pick your next one. You need to feel comfortable that this agent is going to work to get you the best deal and house that you want no matter how long it takes. You need someone to be aggressive and tell the sellers agent or new home agent why it is in their best interest to accept whatever your offer is.
