Now, is a great time to buy because interest rates are very low. Federal tax credit of up to $8K is available for first timers. That means if you have not owned a home within the last 3 years you are considered a first timer. Home prices have adjusted down as much at 45% in some markets. Lastly, the interest you pay on your mortgage is tax deductible.

If you would like a referral to a Realtor in Chicago please let me know. Real estate agents are compensated by the seller and buyers agents that recieve referral clients. If you prefer to find one yourself, please interview (3) buyers agents and ask alot of questions. Get yourself preapproved for a mortgage with a mortgage broker/loan consultant so that you are aware of the buying power you posses. What do you feel comfortable spending in a monthly payment, plus taxes, insurance and upkeep?

Chicago is a wonderfully affordable and cosmoplitain city. I lived there for 4 years and I loved it! The people in the mid west are friendly and warm. The weather can be trying at times too. Great museums, restaurants and great hot dogs! Not too sure about the deep dish pizza however! LOL

All the best to you and your bride!

It's a good life!
