Kay Gilpin has been in the real estate business since 2001 having relocated to the Alabama Gulf Coast at that time to pursue this career. She is a licensed real estate agent and associate broker and principle with Great Southern Real Estate and a principle in KGI, Inc and SJK Investments.
A driven agent for her clients, Kay individually has sold over $65 million in the past 9 years and been involved with over $250,000,000 in real estate transactions. She has consistently been in the top 10% of agents in Baldwin County. Kay is very selective in choosing her clients, working only with those whose product she could believe in and whose understanding of the market or trust in their agent will allow for a realistic pricing structure. Having gained a strong reputation in the marketplace, she has been sought out repeatedly by national marketing firms for her sales expertise and committed approach.
In early 2008, Kay left Ft Morgan Realty and for a brief period joined Ono Professional Partners who themselves were transitioning to become a subsidiary of ResortQuest. She then formed Great Southern Real Estate along with her partner and fellow broker, Lance Niel. With over $7 million closed since 2008 in bank related transactions, Kay has become highly experienced in this new working environment, gaining a true expertise in foreclosures and short sales negotiations.
In addition to her local real estate work, Kay formed SJK Investments with a partner in suburban Detroit, John Wilson, a real estate attorney and investment broker. Together, they have marketed properties throughout the southeast, with agreements for funding and brokering some of the largest mixed-use projects, recreation developments and real estate parcels in the region.
Prior to the real estate business, Kay was a museum restorer of fine porcelain. She operated her own restorations business for 20 years serving clients across the US. Her work was much sought after by institutions, companies and private collectors. She graduated from Furman University with a degree in fine arts and apprenticed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London
