Joni Cox, Bay Area Certified Short Sale and REO Specialist answered:
Hi KD,
I have been told by my mortgage lender friends that if you have a move in mind, you should lock your rate ASAP - so I think the rate hike is coming soon.

If you are buying a home, now would be a great time - before pricing begins to creep back up. If you have to sell to buy, you will likely have to accept that you are going to get less for your home than you would have in previous years. In a move up situtation, you will save more on the more expensive home than you would have in previous years as well. In some cases, the change in the market has made that move up a possibility.

Good luck either way. The market has been showing signs of improvement - less days on the market, multiple offers, etc.. - Mon Oct 12 2009, 14:20
