When I decided to sell my house in July of 2012, the whole process seemed a quite overwhelming and intimidating. It was a big house that needed work, and I wanted it on the market by September.
John is extremely good at what he does. He is professional, competent, totally trustworthy and reliable. When he made recommendations about which improvements we should pursue, he gave me several options and explained the benefits and costs of each one. He clearly wanted to keep costs down for me, yet make the changes that would make the most powerful impact for showing the house.
In issues of both aesthetics and practicality, I felt I could rely on his advice.
Once we made our decisions, he brought in several contractors to give estimates. He has a great working relationship with a variety of craftsmen who did excellent work, on time and within my budget. Whether it was painting, HVAC, granite, junk removal, rugs, major remodeling or stagers, he always asked first if I had someone I worked with. If not, he was able to bring in quality people. I felt confident that I could let John oversee the projects while I went to work; and that my house was in good hands.
My house wasn't a typical type for our neighborhood. When it came time to put a price on it, John took me around to several similar homes in the neighborhood that were currently on the market so we could make an informed decision.
Ultimately, the proof was in the sale. Once the house listed he had regular showings and many people came through. It showed wonderfully. We had our offer within 5 weeks and closed in a little over 3 months.
In retrospect I realize that process could have been a nightmare. I absolutely recommend John and the Long and Foster agency.
