Perhaps that explains why my gross sales and average sale price were up in 2008, in stark contrast to the market, where the number of transactions and average sales price fell.
I run my business as a business. I am supported by a small team of highly trained professionals who share my vision and complement my abilities. With their help, I am better able to leverage my time and focus on my core strengths - marketing strategy and negotiation. My team includes experts in client care, staging, marketing, technology and sales.
Our priority is to offer our clients the highest level of service, market knowledge and integrity. From first-time home buyers to CEOs to some of the city's finest builders, our client base is as diverse as the properties we represent. We have extensive experience in the condo, coop, loft, townhouse, single-family home, and new construction markets. Although we have sold homes as far north as Evanston and as far west as Oak Park, we specialize in the city's Near North Side including the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, River North, Streeterville, Bucktown, and Roscoe Village. We also assist clients who are moving out of the area by introducing them to top agents in other communities.
We make a significant investment in the properties we sell. Before putting a home on the market, we work with our clients to optimize the presentation of their home, identify our target market, develop a strategic marketing plan, analytically assess market value, and prepare all marketing materials including brochure research and copy writing, floor plan preparation, and still photography. Once listed, we offer a comprehensive mix of high quality print- and web-based advertising venues, as well as feedback via email after each showing. Not only does our superior marketing set our team apart – it sets our clients’ homes apart – and that leads to more sales.
I have won many of the industry’s top awards including NRT’s National Leadership Award for ranking #10 in the U.S. and #1 in Chicago. I was recognized as #77 in the country by the Wall Street Journal for sales closed in 2008, and I have ranked among Chicago’s top 10 residential agents every year for over a decade. But frankly, the awards mean much less to me than the relationships I have established with the clients (who are now friends) along the way.
Real estate is “in my blood.” My family tradition started in the 1880s with my maternal great-great-grandfather and Gold Coast developer Nathaniel Fairbank. My step-grandfather, Louis C. Sudler Sr., founded Sudler & Company in 1927 and several members of my family were involved until the company was sold in the late 1980s. Appropriately, Coldwell Banker’s Gold Coast office is located in the John Hancock Center which was developed by my step-grandfather in the 1960s.
I believe that it is important to give back to my industry and community. I have been interviewed as an industry expert by writers for the Chicago Tribune, Chicago magazine, Crain's Chicago Business, The Wall Street Journal, and People magazine, appeared on various television venues including CNN, Fox Thing in the Morning, ABC 7 Chicago, and the Fine Living Network, and featured on the covers of Realtor magazine, Chicago Agent magazine and Real Estate Executive. In the last few years, I have led educational sessions offering sage advice to agents at conferences throughout the country. I look forward to speaking at the National Association of Realtor’s Annual Conference in San Diego later this year.
My love of Chicago runs deeper than my real estate connection. I enjoy the diversity of people, neighborhoods, cultural venues and restaurants. An active member of numerous charitable and civic boards for more than 25 years, I hope to help make Chicago great for generations to come. I currently serve on The Board of Directors of the Lincoln Park Zoo and The Auxiliary Board of The Art Institute of Chicago.
I earned a B.A. in English Literature from Yale University. I have been an agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage for more than a decade. They offer excellent initial training, as well as frequent ongoing training, and a fantastic host of resources that support my business. It is difficult for a smaller firm to compete with CB's buying power. The company is #1 in market share downtown and in most of the suburban communities.
