In response to Alethia's comment, "Stay away from the Orlando area..." Well, it depends in the area. If you look at Seminole County’s school system and communities, I think you will be very impressed. I live and work in Winter Springs, the city immediately west of Oviedo. At times I have been known to leave my doors open and I don't worry at all. On the other hand, I used to live in Miami, FL and I would have never dreamed of leaving my doors open. Seminole County is a relatively small county compared to other large counties in Florida and they run a tight ship. Both the cities of Oviedo and Winter Springs have their own police force and they are very visible throughout their respective communities. Crime is very low in these cities. I have 3 elementary aged and middle school aged children and none of the 3 have more than 20 classmates in their classrooms. Again, compared to Miami, Florida's Dade County public schools system, I feel as if my children are going to private school. Teacher and Parent involvement is high and both schools are rated "A". - Thu Nov 12 2009, 09:09
