I am the Broker/Owner of Ellen E Moore Real Estate which is located on Long Beach Island New Jersey. It is an island which is 18 miles long and you are I am the Broker/Owner of Ellen E Moore Real Estate which is located on Long Beach Island New Jersey. It is an island which is 18 miles long and you are either a north end islander or south end islander. The north end has our famous lighthouse at the tip which we call Barney. It was just relit after 70 years of darkness. It was a beacon for ships at sea traveling up and down the east coast. It has a state park at the lighthouse entrance and a jetty where you can walk out beside our famous Barnegat Inlet which leads you into our bay from the ocean. Barnegat Light also has a commercial fishing fleet which brings in scallops,tile fish,blue fish that are sold to restaurants and fisheries.The north end does not have alot of commercial establishments..in fact Loveladies and North Beach only have one . Houses are situated along easements which are private and lead up to the ocean. Homes on the north end are mostly located on larger lots, and the prices are generally higher than the south end. The south end of the island is where all the restaurants, stores, eateries and bars are located. It is a very family oriented island which brings families back to our island generation after generation. I have lived in this area since I am eight years old . I grew up with the water in my back yard allowing me to ice skate in the winter, swim and fish and boat in the summer.We are located about one hour east of Philadelphia and two hours south of New York City and forty minutes north of Atlantic City.I attended Stockton State College,just outside of Atlantic City and earned a BS degree in environmental health.I was a health inspector on Long Beach Island for ten years.I am an antique dealer and just recently renovated my antique shoppe into my real estate office. I love our island and am very lucky to be able to call it my home for my whole life. I now have a seven month old granddaughter who will be enjoying all our island has to offer! I am a broker owner on Long Beach Island and have found great buys for my customers/Clients. Long Beach Island is a luxury market and even though prices have dropped , the number of foreclosures and distressed sales have been minimal... My opinion is if we do not see a significant drop this fall and early winter it means homeowners have weathered this recession and sales will start to climb. A deal for one person is not seen as a deal to someone else. It all depends on what you are looking for and if it is right for you. I believe there was a very good bargain on the market an oceanside 5br 1 bath for $499- because it was older and had only one bath many of my potential buyers wouldnt look at it...it sold...had numerous offers... - Wed Jul 29 2009, 09:59
