"We chose Dorie Dillard as our agent due to her excellent reputation in our neighborhood (Canyon Creek), and we were not disappointed. We had her as our agent to both sell our old home, as well as to buy a new home during the summer of 2010. Since we were going to purchase our new home prior to selling our old one, it was also important that we sell our old home soon after we purchased the new one (to minimize mortgage and utilities expenses on two homes).
Based on our tastes and preferences, Dorie showed us only about 7-8 homes before we found one which met our needs. This is unlike the experience we had in the past, where an agent showed as 30 or more homes over six months (some which did not even meet our requirements) before we found something we liked. We were quite busy with work and travel during that period, and Dorie's attention to our preferences helped us save valuable time. She also helped us determine the initial bid price (instead of suggesting we pay the asking price, which she could have to speed up the transaction) and guided us through the negotiation process in a professional manner. Thanks to her help, we could save a significant amount off the asking price for the house we eventually purchased.
Once the new house was sold, Dorie helped us get our old home ready for sale. She suggested fixing up our old house to make it more attractive to the buyer, down to the color of paint and carpet (and we did follow through with many of her suggestions). She also helped us select a handyman to carry out minor repairs. Since we were planning to be overseas when the house was on the market, she made sure we had granted a Power-of-Attorney (P.O.A.) to a friend of ours so that our friend could act on our behalf in our absence. We were happy she thought of that, since we were overseas when the offer on our house came in. Our friend could sign for paperwork during that time due to the P.O.A., and we actually finalized the contract to sell the house when we were overseas. Considering the difficult market conditions around that time, we especially feel lucky we were able to sell the house in about 2 months, thanks to Dorie's help.
To sum it up, we don't think we would have found a real estate agent who was better than Dorie. She is a perfectionist, and you can count on her to attend to every detail whether you are buying or selling a house. We can heartily recommend her without any reservations.
