Hi Nancy,
It sounds as though you started too high in price to begin with and in a downward trend(pricing) real estate market you were not able to catch up with the proper pricing.....one step behind so to speak. I would have your realtor re-evalute your pricing based on recent comparables as well as actives and to also see if any properties are selling in your neighborhood. If you are offering a below average commission that could be limiting your showings. You could offer to pay buyers closing costs. If you still have furniture in the house, it could be that it would show better with less furniture.....make the rooms look bigger. If it needs cleaning or painting, it would be best to have the home in good showing condition. Since there is a lot of inventory, you want yours to look better than your competition. Have your realtor take you to see some of your competition, it might help you to realize that you need to do a few things to help your parents home sell. Best of luck and I hope this info helps!
