Your motivation and need to sell will impact the timeline for price reductions. Historic and other unique properties often require longer time on the market. You need an undetermined amount of prospective buyers to view the property... it may take a while to reach that threshold. It sounds like you have the luxury to wait this out. That said, there is no reason to hold back on your marketing effort. Request a borker's open house. The agent should follow through on the marketing plan in all its aspects. This should include a link to a virtual tour, a dedicated web site for the property, presence on the internet, along with some print coverage. I would also recommend advertising in publications that focus on consumers who purchase antiques. Such papers regularly have real estate display ads for historic properties. - Wed Oct 14 2009, 08:25
