Hi Mimi,

Usually you apply for a homestead exemption you don't apply for a refund. Unless you are taking about asking for a refund for years you didn't have an exemption when you should should have.

If you are in the Dallas county part of Rowlett, follow this link to get the form: http://www.dallascad.org/Forms/
It is the first form.

If you are in the Rockwall county part of Rowlett, follow this link: http://www.rockwallcad.com/forms.htm

It is best in both cases that you look up your house and then click on the exemption link. Most of the data will autofill.

Just as an FYI... you must be the homeowner and occupant of the home by January 1st to apply for a homestead. It is also free to file.
