Isn't the real estate agent supposed to help the buyer?

Cyndi McKenna answered:
Ellee:
Your agent is supposed to help you. When you met her at an open house, did she ask you if you would like to have her represent you as a buyer's agent? If she did not, then she is acting as a brokers agent or seller's agent. This means that her interest is for the homeowner, not for you.
I would suggest that you find another agent. Tell him/her exactly what you are looking for. There are many agents and if she is not doing her job to your liking, then get a new one!
Sites like this one can help you find a good agent.
I have had people call and interview me before we ever went out.

Good luck! - Sun Dec 13 2009, 20:27
