Gallatin is 20 minutes outside of Nashville. Gallatin has its own downtown with a town square and small shops. It's actually quite cute and under construction lately. The outlying areas of Gallatin have developed healthily with tons of neighborhoods popping up everywhere. The Fairvue Plantation (a Southern mansion plantation on the lake) is an amazing development with homes from the $300K and into the $1M. Several regional builders have developed numerous neighborhoods. Gallatin has a state community college called Volunteer State. The city itself has tons of restaurants and shops (local and national). It has three major highways leading into the population base from two major intersections.

Hendersonville is its neighboring city, only one to five miles away. Hendersonville has about three times as many shops and restaurants, including the new Lakes at Indian Village. Gallatin is still locally considered convenient to the metro center of Nashville. Many relocation buyers looking for larger homes, more spacious lots and a suburban feel are choosing Gallatin and commuting the 25 to 35 minutes into Nashville. If you're looking for a small town feel with some city amenities like Charleston, MO, this has it. You'll be closer to a major metro city, however. - Earlier today
