How exciting for you!
As with life, it depends on what you can spend. Near the beach is lovely and premium real estate. If you can, why not? There are several other locations which have great attributes for an investor or homeowner; generally west of 41 is considered "beach easy access" and then the area between 41 and 75.
An area which has won the "Community of the Year" award several times is Lely Resort. It is a wonderful assortment of neighborhoods, some gated, some condominiums, villas, lovely homes and wow amenities. Depending on the neighborhood, membership in their fabulous Players Club and Spa are required. This community has a tremendous tennis venue and two public golf courses as well as one private golf course.
From a rental perspective, this area has so much to offer. Many people live here year round so you have lots of life and energy throughout the year. The proximity to Marco Island, the Everglades and of course Naples 5th Avenue and white sand beaches is perfect. The developer, Stock, has new product available and in the pipeline.
