Generally it's not very difficult purchasing property in the US as a non-resident. It's a bit more tricky when it comes time to sell. Aside from speaking to a mortgage lender I would also recommend talking with a US based CPA. There may be steps you can take now that will help avoid significant tax ramifications when it comes time to sell.
