You can save money going to a listing agent directly.
http://www.trulia.com/voices/Home_Selling/Can_low_commission… On this thread you can see that a lot of agents will not show a listing that has to low of a commission. That home might have been a better value.
Also the seller might go lower on his price if the selling agent agreed to a lower commission if they were the one to sell it.
