Prices for new or newer homes in any area are dictated by location. I researced the cities you mentioned in your question and here is a random quotes on properties in these area:
Dallas -- New home prices are $85+Per Sq Ft.
Austin-- " " $97-173" "
Houston- " " $69-97" "
San Antonion" "$69-90" "
You also have to consider the price of the lot. One location a lot will be a different size than at another location and the price per lot lot will vary. example: Gallardia lot prices versus prices on a lot in Midwest City.
School districts figure in as well. There are lots of variables to consider rather that just the price of the house. The same house in different neighborhoods will have different price tags.
