Grace gave you a good suggestion to talk with the agents principal broker. That is free of charge and would be good step towards trying to deal with the situation.

You posted this in the Oregon forum so I assume your mother's home purchase is here. I also assumed with the long closing that she is attempting to purchase a short sale. If the real estate agent used our standard OREF contracts, then the information that Grace gave, that you can withdraw the offer at any time without penalty is not true for Oregon. There is a time frame in the addendum though so it doesn't last forever.

You have a very difficult situation and while it may seem like a good idea to ask for advice on this board, you really need an attorney for the best case, and at minimum need to talk to the principal broker who supervises your mother's agent. - Tue Nov 17 2009, 22:11
