Gertrude,
I sincerely hope you aren't offended by the very honest responses to your question. However, please understand that agents today have seen their commissions reduced, expenses rise and have lost money on many deals that haven't gone through to closing. So many homeowners today feel that if they have to take a loss on their property, then their agent should to. It's a sensitive subject.
I don't know the price of your property, so it is difficult to address this question. Your price could be $200k or it could be $2 million.
As a Realtor, my expenses are much higher as a seller's agent and we all know that going in to it. However, when I represent buyers, I spend more time than money with them.
It sounds like your agent earned a full commission when she represented you as a buyer and she will again when you buy your next house with her. So why are you concerned about her reducing her commission as the selling agent? In my opinion, you want to do everything possible to sell your home today. Make it easier for everyone and offer the buyer's agent the same fee they could earn by selling their client any home. - Tue Jan 25, 2011
