Congratulations on almost being there, Elizabeth! Stay focused on the outcome of owning a new home and you'll be there before you know it!
You obviously struck a chord with agents here who feel strongly about buyers having their own representation! I've represented many first time homebuyers with new construction purchases and I agree with everyone else that each and every one of them fared better having someone to look after their best interests.
As said before, the onsite sales representative (agent) is there exclusively for the seller, who is the builder. That relationship is long-standing and an unrepresented buyer can be taken advantage of in this situation. The builder covers the cost of your representative so, you can be guided through the process at no charge to you--certainly one of the best (and cheapest) investments you'll ever make!
Buying a home can be a complicated process but, with someone to guide you through the process, it can be a wonderful experience. Best of luck and do let me know if I can assist you in any way. - Mon Mar 12, 2012
