You can get a lot of great homes in Summerlin right now. Golf course view homes start at around $500k and you can get good city view homes for well under $1m. You also might take a look around Anthem, MacDonald Ranch and Green Valley where you can find nice properties starting in the same price range.
In a different vein, you may take a look at the Las Vegas Country Club just east of the Strip by the Hilton. There are spectacular golf course homes there for well under $500k to well over $1m (I know of a classic modern home for around $300k) There's a pretty impressive view of the Strip if you're facing that direction and it's a gated, security community.
