7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI bought a house in this district in 2016 because I wanted my kids to attend a good school. At the time there was a lot of hype around the school. By the time my children were attending the school it was overcrowded. This led to an extreme drop in quality. My child's third grade class was a blend of two classes with somewhere around 40 kids in one room. So of course there is no time for individual attention. My child's grades and behavior suffered as a result. We decided enough was enough. The dream that was Hardin Valley had passed already. We moved to a nearly unknown district where my children now get the attention they need. So my recommendation is don't believe the hype.Parent Review5mo ago - Hardin Valley Academy

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to Hardin Valley a few years back and it was a great experience but it has gone downhill. With the new principal and staff my siblings have faced discrimination. Recently I went to the school and encountered a rude office staff. I wasn’t aware one couldn’t bring drinks from the outside and she gave me attitude about it, when I had told her I didn’t know. She proceeded to say “she wasn’t going to allow it” and looked down on me for not knowing. Before office staff were so nice and kind, now everything is changing.Other Review1y ago - Hardin Valley Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is great for students seeking help with their academics. Students are monitored on their Chromebooks and are provided with the resources to step up their grades, with less homework, they get time to spend with their families. One thing that I obscurely dislike is how they block almost every site that's available, it's like they don't want students to learn from others that had the same issues. Overall, I would give this school a 3.5, the Teachers an extremely nice, and students get the opportunity to play instruments and sing.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 2329 Hickory Crest Ln.

What Locals Say about Knoxville

"Lots of local amenities and fun things to do. There are multiple breweries, restaurants, and novelty snack places to try "

"The city as a whole has becoming increasingly “sketchy” throughout. It still has good parts but even those areas are not as good as what they were 8 years ago. I’d suggest doing some strong research."

"People walking their dogs friendly around the neighborhood and casually talking and being helpfully involved with one another. Seeing a smile on the pets and owners faces! "

"Someone tried to break into our house once while we were home. And raccoons tear up our garbage bins every week. Lots of homeless people waking around and speeding cars "
- Danyel Henley

"We live on the water and we get to see a lot of boats/yachts go by. We are also close to campus so there is still a youthful vibe to the neighborhood. Knoxville has some of the best sunsets around, and being so close to downtown has made it easy to socialize. I would recommend better access to public transportation, but aside from that, this is a lovely place to live."
